Dear students and professors,
George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Târgu Mureş (UMPhST) is a prestigious Romanian higher education institution, with a dynamic development, functional, efficient, optimal and flexible management mechanisms, as well as strong administrative stability.
Located in the middle of Transylvania with a tradition of almost 80 years of medical and pharmaceutical education, the University became academically stronger as a result of the merger, in 2018, with the "Petru Maior" University, another prestigious higher education institution in Târgu Mureş. After completion of the merging procedure, the University has acquired a new configuration, currently carrying out, within its seven faculties, programmes at bachelor and master level, as well as doctoral and postgraduate programs of study in three different languages Romanian, Hungarian and English.
The University has a complete educational and research infrastructure, consisting of teaching and research laboratories, the University library, lecture halls, and many other facilities for students, material resources that provide a modern, dynamic educational process with complex activities.
Today we are a comprehensive university, an institution of high quality and new dimension. Besides, we have the advantage of being the only university of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania which has in its structure everything that modern medicine means or can mean in the future. Thus, we are a unique university, and this advantage is our source of progress.
Romania has numerous public and private universities, each of them providing scientific and educational values. Among all these, George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Târgu Mureş is different and unique, which is why the motto of institutional development that best represents the University is:

Mission statement
The mission assumed by the University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology “George Emil Palade” of Târgu Mureș is that of education and advanced research. This mission involves the generation and transfer of knowledge to society through:
- the training of professional/transversal skills and the improvement of highly qualified human resources for a modern society, able to satisfy, through professional insertion, the competence needs of the socio-economic environment;
- the enrichment and dissemination of scientific, cultural, social and ethical values;
- the contribution to the progress of fundamental and applied sciences through scientific research for truth, materialized through fundamental, applied and dedicated research works;
- promoting the spirit and critical thinking among specialists and the population;
- the promotion and development of national and international values in the scientific, cultural and educational fields, through academic cooperation;
- the transfer of knowledge and good practices to society and at the service of society through consulting and advisory services that support regional development in the spirit of the generous principles of the concept of sustainable development;
