On 9 September 2026, in Chengdu, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between G.E. Palade UMPhST of Targu Mures and West China Hospital, Sichuan University. The document was signed on behalf of the Chinese partner by Prof. Cheng Yongzhong, Council Chair of West China Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agreement opens collaboration in clinical training, medical simulation, observership placements and professional development in fields such as minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, organ transplantation, anaesthesia and intensive care, imaging, digital health, artificial intelligence, telemedicine and precision medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For UMPhST, this partnership is directly linked to the development of the \u201cGeorge Emil Palade\u201d University Clinical Hospital. The intention is for West China Hospital\u2019s experience to be transferred into projects concerning team training and the integration of technology into medical practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
West China Hospital is one of the largest university hospitals in China. It has approximately 4,900 beds, more than 15,000 employees and 54 departments. In 2025, it reported approximately 220,000 surgical procedures, 280,000 patient discharges and 7.64 million outpatient and emergency visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
