Romanian Language Preparatory Year for Foreign Citizens is addressed to all foreign citizens, whether from the EU or outside of it, who wish to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study programmes at higher education institutions in Romania.

The program offers a comprehensive training plan for acquiring skills in Romanian language, culture, and civilization. The fundamental courses emphasize the identity of the Romanian language. The practical courses are structured in accordance with the language proficiency levels outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The optional course in specialized languages complements communication skills in Romanian.

The teaching activities focus on employing a variety of modern, student-centred methodological and pedagogical approaches, aiming to ensure rapid progress in language learning.

This program targets those interested in digital media, online advertising, artificial intelligence, Big Data, and social platforms. With a curriculum oriented toward innovation, students gain essential skills in managing digital communication, online advertising strategies, and data analysis for targeted and effective communication. The program emphasizes the understanding and use of artificial intelligence and data analytics tools, preparing students to adapt quickly in a rapidly evolving field and to develop relevant digital campaigns on social platforms.

The "Communication and Public Relations" program provides a strong foundation in communication through traditional media, ideal for those interested in classic public relations, communication strategies, and advertising. Courses cover communication fundamentals, brand image building, media campaign development, and effective collaboration with advertising agencies. Through this approach, students develop the skills needed to build and maintain solid relationships with audiences and partners, learning how to manage an organization's or brand's image through traditional PR and communication methods. The program emphasizes creativity, ethics, and analytical skills in traditional media, offering a comprehensive preparation for a career in public relations and advertising.

This master’s program falls within the field of Sport Science and Physical Education. Throughout the program, students develop skills and competencies for enhancing the teaching process in Physical Education, as well as expertise in sports counseling for high-performance and elite athletes.

The Master’s Program in the History of Religion - Religion and Politics is among the few in Romania to study the role of religion in society outside Faculties of Theology. It approaches the subject in a non-confessional, historical, and diachronic perspective. Courses address fundamental questions raised by today’s social dynamics, focusing on the interaction between religion and politics and highlighting religion as a key factor in modern political life. The program examines how religion, in its various historical and confessional forms, has intersected with major political and conceptual developments, totalitarianism, fundamentalism, secularization, democratization, migration, across East Central Europe. A particular focus is given to Romania, both regarding institutional religion and in relation to religious minorities, secularization, and the political effects of religious fundamentalism.

The History and Cultural Tourism programme is grounded in recent European debates on the importance of cultural heritage, both as a general societal resource and as a strategic asset for a sustainable Europe. Cultural tourism is considered a key driver of this development, serving as a powerful factor for local and regional growth and supporting sustainable urban and rural regeneration. The European Commission’s designation of 2018 as the “European Year of Cultural Heritage” further highlighted the significance of raising awareness at both European and national levels regarding the value of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

This initiative also reflects the desire to develop a new type of tourism experience focused on the appreciation and promotion of European cultural heritage. It addresses the needs of a growing segment of culturally engaged tourists who seek meaningful, enriching travel experiences. In this context, there is a need to train specialists capable of promoting and managing cultural heritage in tourism, as well as experts able to integrate historical knowledge into contemporary applications.

The Bachelor’s degree study program in Romanian Language and Literature – English Language and Literature has a history that overlaps with that of the 3-year Pedagogical Institute (established in the 1960s and setting up the future establishment, in 1994, of the University of Târgu Mureș, with its successive names – The Technical University/ The “Petru Maior” University of Târgu Mureș). Among its assets are the tradition spanning over half a century as well as the prestige generated over time by its graduates and faculty. Since 1990, hundreds of teachers, journalists, literary critics, translators, researchers, and even diplomats (including at the UN) have been trained here, benefiting from an engaging and dynamic academic environment, with the effective removal of barriers between masters and disciples. This is complemented by the vibrancy of leading literary journals (“Vatra,” “Studia Universitatis Petru Maior. Philologia”), extensive conferences, conventions and seminars that have placed its home city on the intellectual map of Romanian humanism.
