ROLUL AXEI MICROBIOTA-CREIER IN PROGRESIA SCLEROZEI LATERALE AMIOTROFICE

THE ROLE OF MICROBIOTA-BRAIN AXIS IN THE PROGRESSION OF AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS PN-III-P1-1.1-TE-2021-0960

PROJECT’S OBJECTIVES

Changes in short-chain fatty acids and intestinal hormone production are associated with intestinal microbiota dysbiosis and inflammation in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Dieta influenteaza compozitia microbiotei intestinale si influenteaza cursul progresiv al bolii.

Main objective: The assessment of the correlations between intestinal microbiota and the progression of ALS in different progressive phenotypes using the SCFAGGYC-PROF.

Specific objectives:

1. Identifying SCFAGGYC-PROF profile in patients with ALS compared with healthy controls

2. The identification of the specific intestinal microbiota profile in ALS patients

3. The evaluation of the dynamic evolution of the SCFAGGYC-PROF profile and the microbiota genomic profile in patients with rapid progressive disease compared to slow progressive disease (identifying the predictive biomarkers of the ALS progression).

4. The identification of the impact caused by dietary intervention on the progression of the disease and the intestinal microbiota changes in ALS patients
