Transnational Meeting in Florence: The AVTiA Project Continues Its Efforts for Accessibility and Inclusion

The second transnational meeting of the partners involved in the AVTIA project, Audiovisual Translation for Inclusion and Accessibility, took place from February 17 to 18, 2025, in Italy. This innovative initiative, part of the Erasmus+ Programme, is coordinated by George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures, project manager Associate Prof. Cristina Nicolae, PhD from Petru Maior Faculty of Sciences and Letters.

Hosted by the project partner Pixel Firenze, the meeting in Florence brought together representatives from participating institutions, including experienced professionals in translation and audiovisual translation from the West University of Timișoara, Romania; University of Lleida, Spain; University of Belgrade, Serbia; and University of Parma, Italy. G.E. Palade UMPhST of Targu Mures was represented by Associate Prof. Cristina Nicolae, PhD and Prof. habil. Anișoara Pop, PhD.

Participants reviewed the progress of activities, focusing on developing training materials for lecturers, with each partner presenting the modules they had created.

The main objective of the AVTIA project is to raise awareness, develop innovative educational content, and provide practical training for university lecturers and students, who will become key human resources in the field of audiovisual translation for inclusion and accessibility by creating Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (SDH) and Audio Description (AD) resources.
