Progress in the new Central University Library Project

The project for the new Central University Library, co-financed by the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and implemented between July 2024 and August 2026, represents one of the strategic investments aimed at modernizing the educational and research infrastructure of G.E. Palade UMPhST of Targu Mures.

The Central University Library will bring together modern facilities for learning, documentation and research, including reading rooms, an amphitheatre, an exhibition area, spaces dedicated to collaborative activities, informal reading and relaxation areas, a mother-and-child reading room, a café, social areas, as well as offices and administrative spaces.

Construction works are progressing according to the execution schedule. So far, the main structural works have been completed, and interior partitioning and installation works are ongoing. In the coming period, facades and exterior carpentry installation will continue, as well as the execution of installations and interior finishing works.

In parallel with construction works, advanced technological solutions are being implemented to facilitate access to academic resources and improve the management of library services.

Through the implementation of this project, G.E. Palade UMPhST of Targu Mures strengthens its academic infrastructure, offering students, teaching staff and researchers a modern, inclusive and high-performing environment for study, collaboration and innovation.
