Simulation Center in Dental Medicine

The medical educational system’s constant improvement, by using state-of-the-art equipment and technologies that favor the teaching process, is a primary desideratum for George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology in Targu Mures. One of our faculty’s key development goals has been to initiate an ambitious project: the Simulation Centre in Dental Medicine, with its main function being to optimize the teaching activities and to develop students' practical skills.

The new Faculty of Dentistry’s Simulation Learning Centre, which has been developed by rehabilitating and modernising the conventional simulation department, focuses on the use of digital 3D simulation technologies and offers integrated solutions for modern dental education, all the way facilitating the transition from the pre-clinical student training to the clinical one

Layout

Two rooms fitted with simulation equipment; training room; dental imaging compartment - equipped with ProMax 3D CBCT.

Facilities

The A-dec conventional simulation equipment and the fully digital Planmeca equipment, a perfect replica of high-performance dental units, offering outstanding opportunities for teaching and learning. Planmeca simulators rely upon a unique learning concept embedding cutting-edge instruments - from simulation units and software to centralised infection control, as well as 2D and 3D imaging devices.

The designated section for dental simulation didactic activities is completed by the new simulation room, as well as by the training room and the radiology department, equipped with a ProMax 3D computed tomography scanner (CBCT) since 2019. This educational ensemble portrays the image of the most modern dental simulation centre in our country
