On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, the Rector of G.E. Palade UMPhST of Targu Mures, Prof. Dr. Leonard Azamfirei, had important meetings with the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation of the Portuguese Republic, Fernando Alexandre, and with the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins. The discussions focused on the development of strategic internationalisation projects for the university, at a time when UMPhST is facing major decisions regarding its international positioning.

The dialogue took place in the presence of H.E. Daniela Gîtman, Ambassador of Romania to the Portuguese Republic, and Mr. Carlos José das Neves Martins, President of the Board of Directors of Unidade Local de Saúde Santa Maria—one of the most important university medical structures in Portugal, playing a key role in professional training, research, and innovation. ULS Santa Maria integrates two university hospitals and over 20 primary healthcare centres, serving a significant share of the population in the Lisbon metropolitan area.
