The George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Târgu Mureș has taken a significant step in strengthening international academic relations by signing the “Thumbay International Pathway Program” agreement with Gulf Medical University (GMU) from the United Arab Emirates.

The document was signed on Monday, October 13, 2025, in Târgu Mureș, by Dr. Thumbay Moideen, founding president of Thumbay Group and GMU, and Prof. Dr. Leonard Azamfirei, Rector of G.E. Palade UMPhST, during a ceremony held in the presence of delegations from both universities.

The agreement marks the beginning of an academic collaboration that offers graduates of the Pre-Clinical Sciences program at GMU the opportunity to continue their clinical studies in the English-language Medicine programs offered by UMFST G.E. Palade Târgu Mureș.

Through this partnership, the two universities join forces to promote excellence, innovation, and cultural diversity in the training of future healthcare professionals. It is a collaboration that opens new perspectives for global medical education and reaffirms UMFST’s role as an active partner in the international academic community.
