On July 13, 2026, a collaboration agreement was signed between G.E. Palade UMPhST of Targu Mures and the ”Transilvania – Targu Mures” International Airport, a partnership that aligns with the strategic direction UniCity, through which the university assumes an active role in local development.

Although it does not fit the traditional typology of academic partnerships, this collaboration reflects a shared vocation for paving new pathways: the university through education and training, and the airport through connectivity and access to the world. Each in its own way, both are spaces of departures and returns that host encounters capable of altering life paths.

The signed agreement opens up several areas of cooperation: supporting academic mobility, establishing the university’s presence within the airport through dedicated areas, providing information and activities for passengers, health education initiatives, mutual promotion, and identifying benefits for the academic community. At the same time, UMPhST can contribute through expertise, training, and applied projects designed to enhance the passenger experience and support the development of the airport as a gateway to the region.

The partnership strengthens the university’s international openness and creates a new runway for collaboration, from which projects connecting people, ideas, and communities beyond borders can take off.
