Description

The “Balneophysiokinetotherapy and Recovery” study programme operates within the Faculty of Medicine of G.E. Palade UMPhST G.E. of Targu Mures. The educational process takes place in a modern environment, equipped with classrooms and laboratories to European standards, a medical simulation centre, virtual reality facilities and infrastructure dedicated to developing practical skills in the field of physical and functional rehabilitation. The programme promotes evidence-based therapies and integrates students into specialised clinical internships, contributing to the development of the competences required to provide high-quality therapeutic care services.

Professional competences

  • development of physical therapy programmes customised to pathology and in accordance with the objectives set forth by the physician, based on fundamental knowledge in the field;
  • development and implementation of programmes of personalised massage;
  • development and implementation of hydro-thermo programmes and of other specific methods according to pathology in an integrated recovery treatment programme;
  • performance of electrotherapy protocols developed by the physician;
  • making the necessary determinations for a functional diagnosis and its monitoring;
  • patient education for the use of orthoses, prostheses and other devices that facilitate daily and socio-professional activities.


Transversal competences

  • identify the goals to be achieved, the resources available, finalisation conditions, terms, stages of work, working hours, deadlines and associated risks;
  • identify roles and responsibilities in a multidisciplinary team and apply relationship techniques and effective work relationships within the team and in relation to the patient;
  • effective use of information sources, communication resources and assisted professional training (Internet portals, specialised software, databases, online courses, etc.) both in Romanian and in an international language.


Career Opportunities

After completing the programme, graduates are granted the title of licensed physical therapy specialist. The diploma is recognised at the European level, and graduates can work in:

  • hospitals and medical recovery clinics;
  • rehabilitation and sports physiotherapy centres;
  • balneary resorts and treatment centres;
  • care institutions and inclusive education centres;
  • the private or public sector for orthotics and prosthetics.

 

Also, after completing the programme, graduates have the possibility to pursue master’s or PhD studies in complementary fields, benefiting from a solid and varied professional path.
