Description

The pharmacist has a significant social impact, being the specialist involved in developing, testing, producing, analyzing, controlling and distributing medicines. All these require a high level of theoretical and practical inter- and transdisciplinary training, both in the field of physicochemical and medico-biological sciences. As a result of their academic training, the pharmacist will have specialized skills which provide scientific authority in the fields of pharmaceutical analysis and technology, pharmacology and clinical pharmacy, toxicology, as well as in meeting social requirements (fulfilling the population’s need for information, education and prophylaxis).

  • The design, formulation, preparation and packaging of medications, dietary supplements, cosmetics and other healthcare products;
  • The storage, preservation, distribution of medications, dietary supplements, cosmetics and other healthcare products;
  • The dispensation of medication, dietary supplements, cosmetics and other healthcare products;
  • The principles of pharmaceutical care;
  • The analysis and control of substances, medications, dietary supplements, cosmetics and other healthcare products, analysis conducted in biochemistry, toxicology and food and environmental hygiene laboratories;
  • The knowledge of management, marketing and administration as it pertains to the healthcare sector;
  • The ability to provide consultancy and expertise in the field of medication, dietary supplements, cosmetics and other healthcare products.

The pharmacist profession offers multiple paths to professional fulfilment, and graduates of the Faculty of Pharmacy can pursue successful careers in the following fields

  • Community pharmacy;
  • Hospital pharmacy;
  • Clinical pharmacy;
  • Pharmaceutical industry;
  • Research institutes;
  • Laboratories for the analysis and control of medications and nutritional supplements;
  • Toxicology laboratories in various institutions (National Institute of Public Health, National Institute of Forensic Medicine, etc.);
  • Medical representative for various pharmaceutical companies;
  • Academic and teaching positions in higher education
  • National authorities in the field of public health: Ministry of Health, National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices, etc;
  • Practicing the profession in a country in the European Community, as the diplomas awarded by UMPhST G.E.Palade are recognized in the EU

Graduates can continue their studies with a doctoral or residency program.
