Misiunea programului de studiu Tehnică dentară face parte integrantă din misiunea UMFST G.E. Palade Târgu Mureș așa cum este prevăzută în Carta Universității și constă în:

• promovarea educaţiei şi performanţei academice pentru formarea de absolvenţi competitivi și profesionalizați în tehnică dentară;
• formarea de cercetători care să activeze în centrele de cercetare;
• cultivarea abilităților practice care să satisfacă cerințelor angajatorilor privind asigurarea de resurse umane înalt calificate în domeniul tehnicii dentare.

• Adaptarea continuă a ofertei educaţionale şi modalităţior de desfăşurare a studiilor medicale, fiind în măsură să formeze absolvenţi şi specialişti competitivi în spaţiul european, uşor de integrat în piaţa muncii reprezentată de sistemele de sănătate;
• Selecţia şi dezvoltarea continuă a unui corp academic valoros, dedicat programului de studiu Tehnică dentară;
• Formarea deprinderilor de cercetare fundamentală şi aplicativă a studenţilor, pentru implementarea unei atitudini clinice, specifice domeniului tehnică dentară.

Professional skills

• Appropriate use of principles underlying the morphology and functionality of the dento-maxillary apparatus;
• Use of materials, appliances and work equipment notions that are specific to dental technique laboratory;
• The design and manufacture of fixed prosthetic restorations (covering crowns, dental bridges);
• The design and manufacture of mobile, removable and composite prosthetic restorations;
• Carrying out activities in specific fields: orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery;
• Managing thetheoretical and legislative bases of operational health systems in Romania, as well as the managerial aspects concerning the dental technique laboratory.

Transversal skills

• Implementing strategies for correctly identifying, analysing and performing assigned and assumed tasks, as well as for establishing an optimal patient and co-workers relationship, both in a professional and natural setting;
• Correct identification of roles and responsibilities within a multidisciplinary team and the applying of effective networking techniques and work flow within the doctor-dental technician team, as well as with regards to the patient;
• Reviving of medical knowledge by using active learning methods and techniques, as well as fact-finding sources, both in Romanian and in an international language.
