UMPhST promotes excellence in medical education at a global level

Following the “Thumbay International Pathway Program” partnership signed in October between G.E. Palade UMPhST Targu Mures and Gulf Medical University (GMU), our university accepted the invitation to participate in GMU’s graduation ceremony and the inauguration of the Thumbay International Pathway Networking Hub, held on 19–20 November 2025 in Ajman, United Arab Emirates.

As recognition of the academic collaboration, UMPhST received a distinction awarded to Prof. Dr. Simona Gurzu-Prundaru, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in English, by H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Emir of Ajman and member of the Supreme Council of the Union, together with Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founding President of GMU. UMPhST is listed among the strategic partners of the Thumbay International Pathway Networking Hub, an initiative dedicated to facilitating international collaborations.

During the visit, meetings took place with the leadership of GMU, the admissions and marketing team, as well as a campus and university hospital tour — all aimed at concretising collaboration opportunities that would allow GMU pre-clinical graduates to continue their clinical training within the Medicine programmes of our university.

UMPhST thus reaffirms its commitment to developing sustainable international partnerships and to promoting excellence in medical education at a global level.
