ERGOPOLIS. The education of the future is taking shape in Targu Mures

Under the auspices of G.E. Palade UMPhST of Targu Mures, the Regional Consortium for Dual Education ERGOPOLIS is radically transforming the educational landscape of Mures County. By combining theory and practice, this ambitious project directly addresses the acute need for highly qualified workforce in the local economy, while also offering young people a real chance for professional integration. The good news is that the pre-admission session for undergraduate programs is already underway, and candidates can apply until 29 May 2026.

An investment in the future: the dual campus infrastructure

The core of this educational revolution is the construction of a state-of-the-art dual education campus. The project, funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), has a total value of nearly 30 million euros.

The campus is being built on a two-hectare site in the Tudor Vladimirescu district and includes several buildings: a modern education center, a student dormitory and cafeteria, as well as a dedicated sports and recreation area.

ERGOPOLIS is a regional dual education consortium with a multi-layered educational infrastructure, both conceptual and physical, designed to meet the human resource needs of the business environment for highly qualified specialists.

Prepared for industry: the academic offer

In this context, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology has launched seven dual bachelor’s degree programs. Students will benefit from a comprehensive educational experience combining theoretical courses with paid internships at partner companies. The available specializations are diverse and future-oriented:

  • Medical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Automation and Applied Informatics
  • Energy and Information Technologies
  • Engineering and Management in Construction
  • Economic and Industrial Engineering
  • Machine Manufacturing Technology

“This dual education system is, in fact, a partnership between the university and the economic environment, and students carry out their activities in a combined way. For 50% of the time, students will attend academic activities on campus, and approximately 50% will be practical work in partner companies,” explained project manager Prof. dr. Liviu Moldovan.
