The first edition of the ”Marius Sabau” national biology competition

The first edition of the „Marius Sabau” National Biology Competition took place from July 12–16, 2026, bringing together 64 students from across the country who are passionate about biology and life sciences.

The opening ceremony took place on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in the Senate Hall, marking the launch of a competition that aims to promote excellence, the research spirit, and high performance in the field of biology.

The event was honored by the presence of Professor Marius Sabau, a prominent figure in the field of physiology, Rector of our university between 2000 and 2004, and a role model of rigor and professionalism.

The competition stands out through an innovative format structured around three complementary components:

  • The theoretical exam, dedicated to assessing knowledge and scientific rigor;
  • The practical exam, conducted in modern laboratories, which provided participants with the opportunity to demonstrate their observation, analysis, and interpretation skills;
  • The debate round, reserved for top-performing contestants and scheduled for Wednesday, which will evaluate critical thinking, scientific argumentation, expressiveness, and teamwork skills.

In addition to the exams, participants had the opportunity to explore the university environment through guided tours, laboratory visits, and social activities.
